Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Philadelphia, PA

Ask Your South Philly Dentist

If you have questions about dentistry – whether a specific treatment or general at-home care – you’re always welcome to call our MoyaDent Family Dentistry team and ask. However, we recommend that you first look over this page, where we’ve answered many of the questions that we receive the most often.

Will you accept my dental insurance?

Probably! Although our dental office is not in-network with any state insurances, we are in-network with many of the leading PPO dental plans, and our team members are experts at making the most of patients’ dental insurance benefits. You can trust that when you use your insurance with us, you’ll be saving as much as possible!

How often should I see a dentist?

This answer can vary based on a person’s individual oral health needs, but the vast majority of people should visit a dentist for a routine checkup and cleaning twice a year, or once every six months. Even if nothing is currently bothering you about your teeth and gums, cavities or infections might be developing under the surface, and regular visits let our dentists catch and treat them early on.

Why do I need professional teeth cleanings if I brush my teeth?

Daily brushing and flossing are essential habits for excellent oral health, but some areas of your mouth are impossible for you to clean with just your toothbrush and floss. Plaque might build up in these areas and contribute to tooth decay and/or gum disease, and professional teeth cleanings are the only way to reduce this risk. Our hygienists can clear out plaque from these hard-to-reach areas to help your smile stay healthy between visits.

Do you treat children?

As the name of our dental office suggests, we’re happy to treat every member of the family – including the youngest ones! Our dentists and team members are friendly, gentle, and patient, so they’re sure to help your child feel relaxed and safe as we take care of their growing smile.

Can you fix my broken tooth?

Most likely! One of our most popular and effective methods of treating broken teeth is with dental crowns, or tooth-shaped “caps” that restore a tooth’s structure and protect it from harm going forward. At our dental office, we provide dental crowns made from durable materials that are shaded to look exactly like your natural smile so that onlookers won’t even know the difference!

Do you offer dental implants in-house?

Yes! Dr. Aloian has completed extensive post-graduate training in order to be qualified to place dental implants herself. This means that, instead of needing to refer you to a separate dental office for the surgical step of dental implant treatment, we can handle the whole process in a single convenient location. Plus, you’ll be with the team you already know and trust.
